Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Tourism Department of Southeast Sulawesi Province is hosting a tourism video competition in an effort to promote tourism activities in the region and boost the number of tourists. Open to the public, this competition is held for almost two months from October 16 to December 10, 2023, with a total prize of Rp8.25 million or approximately US$525.2 (US$1 equals Rp15,708).
According to the Head of the Southeast Sulawesi Tourism Department Belli Tombili, this video-making competition aims to encourage people to create tourism content in short videos which are published on social media.
“Thus far, many tourism destinations or creative economic activities that have gone viral have apparently come from public posts. This is what we are trying to encourage,” said Belli in a written press release (10/13). He added that the competition at the end of this year is a warm-up for hosting a similar competition on a larger scale next year.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Marketing Development Division of the Southeast Sulawesi Tourism Department Andi Syahrir explained that this promotional video competition consists of two categories, namely tourist destinations and villages as well as the creative economy such as culinary, weaving, and performing arts.
“Participants can submit more than one video. The submitted video should never be published in any media and has never been included in any video competition,” said Andi.
Conformity of content with theme and title
The video must not contain pornographic elements, pornographic acts, or be offensive to ethnicity, religion, race, or intergroup with a specified duration of only 1 minute. Therefore, Andi appealed to participants to make videos as creative as possible and must be in accordance with the theme categories.
In addition, the video should not display any copyright violations, whether musical or otherwise. Tourist locations or activities in the video can be conveyed through text or narration. Participants can make videos using any camera, in mp4 format with a minimum resolution of 720p.
He further added, “The assessment criteria are the conformity of content with theme and title, creativity and originality, aesthetics, timeliness, and number of views and likes.”
To take part in this competition, participants upload short videos to their respective social media from October 16 to December 10, 2023. Simultaneously, participants also upload their videos on Google Drive and send the link to the committee via WhatsApp contact 082293398231, by including the information as follows: Video title, competition category, and participant’s social media name (Instagram).
The committee will select six place winners for each category which will be announced on December 15, 2023, through the Instagram of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Tourism Department. (Translated by Sinta)
