Heaptalk, Jakarta — South Tangerang City Government held training on administrative skills for heads of neighborhood associations (RT) and hamlet associations (RW) throughout East Pondok Jagung Village, North Serpong District some time ago. This training aims to improve the quality of service for the South Tangerang community.
Attending the activity, the Vice Mayor of South Tangerang Pilar Saga Ichsan said that RT and RW heads are the spearheads of implementing the development program in the city because of their role in disseminating information as well as providing basic services for the community.
“Without the support of RT and RW, the South Tangerang City Government program would not be possible since the spearheads of our program are the RT and RW,” said Pilar.
Moreover, the authority of neighborhood and hamlet association heads must connect the community with village and district governments. Pilar uttered, “Thus, the information you convey is valuable, for example, road conditions, floods, children who have difficulty going to school, uninhabitable houses, and so on.”
In addition, Pilar also said that during development planning meetings (musrenbang) and other forums, neighborhood and hamlet associations have the opportunity to deliver suggestions that can bring an impact on improvements in the area. For that reason, their role must be optimized, one of which is through the training on administrative skills.
He further added, “We have to optimize this role. Later, we plan to increase incentives to support RT and RW. Next year, we are targeting Rp1 million.”
The increment in incentives must be aligned with improved performance and service by getting closer to the community. In this way, neighborhood and hamlet associations are expected to become more aware of existing issues in the community. Pilar is optimistic that this training session will have a significant impact on accelerating services in the neighborhood and hamlet areas. (Translated by Sinta)
