Heaptalk, Jakarta — Minister of Housing and Settlements (PKP) Maruarar Sirait has expressed gratitude to the Association of Housing and Settlement Developers of Indonesia (APERSI) for supporting the government’s ambitious 3 Million Houses Program. He called on APERSI to continue its active role in providing insights and solutions to overcome challenges in the housing sector.
“We expect APERSI to continue to build homes for the community in bolstering the 3 Million Houses Program,” Minister Sirait said during a meeting with the APERSI central board (DPP). (12/06)
Minister Sirait and Deputy Minister Fahri Hamzah reaffirmed the government’s openness to input from housing developers. “Collaboration is essential to ensure that government policies are effective while creating a conducive investment climate in the housing sector,” he stated.
The Minister also highlighted the budget constraints for housing development, which is limited to Rp5.27 trillion for 2025. In light of this, he emphasized the need for collective efforts with partners like APERSI to achieve the ambitious target.
APERSI’s commitment to affordable housing
Junaidi Abdillah, Chairman of APERSI, affirmed the association’s commitment to supporting the government, particularly in providing affordable housing for low-income families (MBR). “APERSI is ready to coordinate and collaborate with the Ministry of PKP to ensure the provision of decent and affordable housing for the community,” he said.
Since its establishment in 1998, APERSI has played a significant role in the sector, with 669,149 housing units constructed between 2020 and 2024. The organization boasts 3,691 active developers out of 5,120 members across 29 provinces, with several members donating land to support housing development initiatives.
Minister Sirait revealed plans to engage more broadly with other developer associations to gather innovative ideas and proposals for housing development and financing schemes. He encouraged APERSI to submit written feedback regarding on-ground challenges to facilitate coordination with relevant ministries and agencies.
Key figures attended the meeting, including the Director-General of Housing, Iwan Suprijanto, APERSI Secretary-General Daniel Jumali, and Deputy Chairman Moh Solikin.
“Strong collaboration is expected to enhance the implementation of the 3 Million Houses Program and fulfill the need for adequate housing for communities across Indonesia,” concluded Minister Sirait.
