Batam, Heaptalk — The Nirup Island development as the destination that prioritizes sustainable aspects or known as green destination receives an appreciation from Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno.
“We witness the sustainable green destination prototype because we have yet seen a single drop of water being managed well. We also see that this tourism ecosystem is so close to Singapore,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga, after visiting Nirup Island in Batam, Riau Island, Monday (1/1/2024).
Nirup Island is 13 kilometers away from Sentosa Island in Singapore. This island has many advantages such as clear water, exquisite island, the alluring and naturally beautiful coral, so it is suitable for tourists who have interest in underwater activities.
Nirup Island also has a tourist port that is fully facilitated with immigration and customs, thus it will make it easier for foreign tourists to enter this area. This island also has Marine and is supplied with a parking facility for cruises or yachts that is able to accommodate 180 boats.
Minister Sandiaga said that sustainable tourism has become a trend that will pique the interest of tourists nowadays. Both local and foreign tourists. As a result, Minister Sandiaga appreciates the Tourism Industry in Batam that has always been committed to improve the tourism sector in Riau Island.
Nirup Island that will be managed by Westin is planned to be fully operated in October 2024.
“The investment is beyond what we hoped in October 2024 to be fully operational, and I’m here to acknowledge and motivate the rise of tourism here. Because recently it has just started operating, later on the islands around Nirup namely Belakangpadang will be affected,” he conveyed.
“We also ensure that Riau Island has a lot of premium destinations to attract international tourists to see more of the island, especially Batam,” he concluded.
