Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry has issued Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certificates for 20 Apple products, comprising 11 mobile phone certificates and nine tablet computer certificates. The Head of P3DN (Center for Domestic Product Development) at the Ministry of Industry has signed each TKDN certificate.
“We have issued TKDN certificates for 20 Apple products. The issuance of these 20 certificates follows Apple’s compliance with regulations related to the TKDN HKT policy, specifically Minister of Industry Regulation No. 29 of 2017, after the company faced sanctions for non-compliance during the 2020-2023 period. Apple has opted for Scheme 3 in its 2025-2028 proposal, which includes a commitment to establish a research and innovation facility in Indonesia worth USD 160 million. This Research and Innovation Center in Indonesia will be Apple’s second such facility outside the United States and its first in Asia,” said Febri Hendri Antoni Arief, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, in an official statement. Furthermore, around 20 Apple products must obtain post and telecommunications (postel) certificates from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi). The postel certificate from the Ministry is a prerequisite for obtaining the Import Product Registration Mark (TPP Import) from the Industry Ministry. The TPP Import from the Ministry of Industry is, in turn, a requirement for all imported Apple products to obtain IMEI numbers and Import Approval (PI) from the Ministry of Trade.
“After receiving the 20 TKDN certificates, Apple can apply for postel certificates for all their products at Kominfo. Once the TKDN and postel certificates are secured, Apple will then be eligible to obtain TPP Import for all its products, which will be used as a requirement to obtain IMEI numbers from CEIR and Import Approval (PI) from the Ministry of Trade,” Febri explained.
This development marks a significant step in Apple’s compliance with Indonesian regulations and its commitment to contributing to the local economy through investment in research and innovation facilities.
