Heaptalk, IKN — Basuki Hadimuljono, Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN), announced that the budget addition for IKN development has been approved to be Rp13.5 trillion, around US$801.9 million (US$1 equals Rp16,832), in total, allowing construction to resume and be accelerated.
Basuki explained that all unfinished continuation projects, including the airport, toll roads, the Vice Presidential Palace, a mosque, and roads already contracted through multi-year agreements using the Ministry of Public Works budget, will be completed.
Meanwhile, the budget for road paving and other works along the roads in the Central Government Core Area of Nusantara Capital has been finalized in the Authority’s State Budget Implementation List, with Rp5.4 trillion coming from the Nusantara Capital Authority and an additional Rp8.1 trillion allocated for the judicial and legislative areas, which will soon be developed. “The additional Rp8.1 trillion budget underscores the government’s commitment to accelerating the development of IKN as Indonesia’s new capital,” Basuki said (04/16).
Basuki emphasized the importance of stakeholders, especially construction implementers, accelerating workforce mobilization to support operational readiness following the budget addition. He said, “With this continuity confirmed, we are asking all service providers to mobilize their workforce immediately. Today, 1,500 workers have arrived in several waves via Hercules aircraft.”
On the same occasion, Basuki also mentioned that he had met with China Harbour Engineering Company and the IJM Consortium regarding unsolicited projects. “These public-private partnership (PPP) projects focus on the development of housing, roads, and a Multi-Utility Tunnel (MUT) in IKN, East Kalimantan,” Basuki said. He expressed confidence that these partnerships will further speed up the development of Nusantara Capital.
