Heaptalk, Jakarta — Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has confirmed that Sritex has not ceased operations. The government has even asked the curators and banks to discuss this issue with the company.
“Yes, of course, we appreciate the law, but the government is asking that the company continue to operate without any cessation of operations. The government has already asked the curators and banks to hold discussions,” Airlangga told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday (01/16).
Airlangga also said that as long as Sritex continues to operate as a going concern, its employees will be protected from the threat of layoffs. He said, “Of course, if the company continues to operate, the employees will be protected.”
Meanwhile, Minister of Manpower Yassierli said that so far, the Ministry of Manpower is still monitoring the ongoing legal process. “We are still monitoring it; there is nothing definitive that we can comment on. So, that’s the dynamic, let’s wait and see,” said Yassierli when met by reporters at the National Conference of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
Yassierli said the government is coordinating the Sritex issue with the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. He said, “We are communicating with the Coordinating Ministry, so Sritex shouldn’t go exclusively to the Ministry of Manpower.”
Yassierli added that he hopes the going concern can continue. So far, he is still investigating the best solution to save Sritex. “Yes, that is our hope (the going concern). We hope it goes that way. We will see where the obstacles are and what the best solution is. Earlier, I discussed it with the Coordinating Minister; we will try to monitor it together,” he concluded.
