Village boundaries must be determined based on geometric accuracy. East Kutai received financial assistance from East Kalimantan Province for the determination of village boundaries.

Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Kutai Regency does not yet have a village boundary map based on geometric accuracy. This was conveyed by the Head of the Village Administration Section of the East Kalimantan Community and Village Empowerment Department (DPMDes), Dakwan Dini, during the monitoring and evaluation of village government financial assistance for the 2021 and 2022 fiscal years in the Akasia Room, Multipurpose Building, office area of East Kutai Regency Government.

This activity was held in conjunction with the facilitation of financial assistance for the 2023 fiscal year. According to Dakwan, there are 15 parameters the Provincial Government is looking at in providing financial assistance to villages in 2021.

“We leave a message to East Kutai Regency as in 2023 we (East Kalimantan) are targeted to accelerate village boundaries along with ten other provinces in Indonesia and in East Kutai there is not yet a village boundary map that fits geometrically. One of the points in the parameters above is the determination of village boundaries,” said Dakwan.

Determining village boundaries requires time, effort, and money. Hence, the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan provides this financial assistance. In his presentation, Dakwan emphasized that East Kutai Regency should prioritize village boundaries determination. This can cause issues if it is not ratified through a Regent Regulation (Perbup).

“There are eleven village boundaries in East Kutai whose village arrangements have been handed over to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) and are still being processed at the ministry, just waiting for the confirmation of village boundaries,” said Dakwan.

Further, he asked the East Kutai Regency Government Section to immediately coordinate with the Geospatial Information Agency to obtain village codes for the eleven villages that had been proposed. However, since there is currently a village code moratorium until January 1, 2025, village codes cannot be obtained. After the moratorium ends, villages can obtain the codes.

In more detail, the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan distributed financial assistance to 841 villages in the amount of Rp50 million each from 2021 to 2022. Dakwan said, “We hope that the financial assistance from the Province of East Kalimantan will benefit the villages.”

Meanwhile, East Kutai Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman asked the Assistant for Public Administration and People’s Welfare, the East Kutai Government Section and DPMDes, to immediately follow up on the Provincial directives to coordinate with the Geospatial Information Agency.

“This financial assistance has been directed, for this year related to the village boundary arrangement. Please later coordinate with Geospatial to follow up on this. The Provincial Government has facilitated it with this financial assistance. Therefore, this assistance has been directed,” concluded Ardiansyah.
