Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai government sent a contingent of 12 athletes to compete at the East Kalimantan Provincial Education Sports Festival (FOP) in Samarinda on November 2-3, 2022. Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman officially supported and marked the departure of East Kutai FOP contingent in the regent’s office yard (11/02).
Organized for the first time by the National Sports Teachers Association (Igornas) of East Kalimantan, FOP consists of two sports, namely athletics and pencak silat. East Kutai sent 6 athletes for athletics, 6 athletes for pencak silat, and 5 coaches.
Regent Ardiansyah hoped that the East Kutai contingent could achieve good results when competing in the East Kalimantan FOP. Ardiansyah delivered, “I expect all athletes can improve their achievements and give their best in participating in this sports festival.”
He further added that all athletes can maintain the reputation of East Kutai and their schools. “Hopefully all children can win first place in East Kalimantan FOP,” said Ardiansyah.
Meanwhile, according to the Chairman of the East Kutai FOP Contingent Adi Arianto, the regency held a selection and the twelve athletes were chosen to represent East Kutai at the East Kalimantan FOP. Athletes come from elementary, middle, and high school levels.
“We hope the East Kutai FOP team can speak out through the achievements at the provincial level,” said Adi. The East Kalimantan FOP was attended by all regencies/cities throughout East Kalimantan. Athletics took place at the Kadrie Oening Sports Center (Sempaja) while pencak silat was held at the Air Hitam Pencak Silat Building in Samarinda.
