The contingent sent to the XVI KTNA National Week in Padang is expected to be a reference for farmers and fishermen in other areas.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Regency Government delegated 51 representatives to take part in the XVI National Week of the National Outstanding Farmers and Fishermen Association, known as Penas KTNA XVI, in Padang, West Sumatra. This contingent consists of farmers, fishermen, cattlemen, and growers in East Kutai who have been assisted by 26 related agencies.
Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman officially released the representatives at the Mesfa Hotel, Teluk Lingga Village, North Sangatta District (06/07). They will take part in a series of six-day national week activities on June 10-15, 2023.
The national week itself is a meeting forum that facilitates participants to exchange information and experiences in their respective fields. This event aims to raise the enthusiasm, responsibility, and self-reliance of the participants as the main actors of development in the agriculture, fishery, livestock, and plantation sectors.
According to Ardiansyah, the Government of East Kutai is ready to support and provide opportunities for farmers and fishermen who have the capability and quality in their fields. He hopes that the participants can be a reference for farmers and fishermen in other areas to develop even better.
“Later at National Week, please exchange ideas with others. Do not let us keep the knowledge to ourselves. Keeping knowledge to oneself is useless. But if we impart that knowledge to others and vice versa, we can gain more knowledge after we return from National Week,” said Ardiansyah.
East Kutai’s main agricultural commodity
Further, Ardiansyah said that East Kutai Regency has several main commodities, including bananas, pineapples, cocoa, lobster, and salted fish. Therefore, he hopes that farmers and fishermen can be facilitated with adequate equipment to maximize current production.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Food Crops, Horticulture, and Livestock Department (DTPHP), Dyah Ratnaningrum, said that apart from farmers and fishermen, several outstanding field extension officers (PPL) also participated in the East Kutai contingent at the KTNA XVI National Week.
“By participating in this activity, it is hoped that the farmer-fishermen in East Kutai can be even more enthusiastic about developing their respective commodities. Apart from that, this is also a form of reward for reliable farmers and fishermen who have been consistent in their fields,” Dyah concluded.
