The public relations working meeting was organized by the East Kalimantan Provincial Government in Balikpapan to optimize the officers’ role in the digital era.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan through the Department of Communication and Informatics held a working meeting on public relations at the Grand Jatra Hotel, Balikpapan. Carrying the theme of Optimizing the role of public relations officers in media management to improve government performance in the digital era, this activity was attended by 108 public relations officers across East Kalimantan, including East Kutai.
On the sidelines of the activity, the Head of the East Kutai Communication and Informatics, Statistics, and Encoding Department (Diskominfo Staper), Ery Mulyadi, said that his party sent four representatives from the Department of Communication and Informatics and two representatives from the Protocol and Leadership Communication Section of the Regency Secretariat.
“The existence of public relations officers in the era of information disclosure is essential and much needed in the digitalization era. Public relations officers must be able to become a mouthpiece for the government in conveying various information,” said Ery.
At this work meeting, the officers were provided with an understanding regarding the assessment of their employee performance targets (SKP), one of which is activity items such as making videos, live streaming, and uploading news. Moreover, uploads on personal social media can also be used as an assessment of employee performance targets.
However, Ery reminded the officers not only to focus on coverage of ceremonial activities but also on in-depth news. Not all ceremonial activities have to be covered since there are other news items that must be exposed.
After attending this working meeting, Ery hopes that East Kutai officers can optimize their role and function in providing information to the public. In addition, this activity is also expected to scale up the ability to implement public relations which includes knowledge, expertise, skills, and work roles. Thus, the officers are able to convey information properly to the public.
