New management of the Early Public Vigilance Forum is expected to be a medium to encourage and motivate the active role of the community.

Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Kutai Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman inaugurated the Management of the Early Public Vigilance Forum, translated literally from Forum Kewaspadaan Dini Masyarakat (FKDM) for the 2023-2028 period, including Khoirul Arifin as chairman (05/08). Located in the Meranti Room of the Regent’s Office, the inauguration was carried out based on the Decree of the East Kutai Regent No. 200/K273/2023.

In his remarks, Ardiansyah expressed his appreciation for the formation of an Early Public Vigilance Forum in East Kutai since lately, disputes between citizens began to rife which was triggered by various interests. The condition was followed by an increase in criminal cases with diverse modes and drug abuse.

At present, the condition of East Kutai is still conducive. However, Ardiansyah asked his citizens to remain vigilant and foster early vigilance. He voiced, “This is due to the condition of the heterogeneous East Kutai people with diverse backgrounds has the potential for dispute or conflict which will ultimately endanger us all.”

In addition, the existence of East Kutai as the largest mining and oil palm land in East Kalimantan Province demands all related parties to always maintain a comfortable and conducive regional image. “Moreover, the spinning of the wheel of our people’s lives is very dependent on the creation of a safe and conducive atmosphere, far from the conflict and rise in crime,” Ardiansyah said.

Further, according to Ardiansyah, this forum can be a medium to encourage and motivate the active role of the community. He also advised the forum management to inventory and renew potential disturbances and threats that could emerge in the community in an effort to minimize and overcome them as early as possible with local wisdom.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the East Kutai FKDM, Khoirul Arifin, expressed his expectation that the fresh management will be increasingly active in coordinating data and information from the public, primarily regarding the potential threats, challenges, obstacles, and disruption in the fields of ideology, politics, economics, socio-cultural, maintaining security and public order, and disaster.
