The technical guidance aims to increase the capacity of BPD members, including various regulations governing village finances, village government, village apparatus, and government monitoring.

Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Government of East Kutai Regency through the Community and Village Empowerment Department (DPMDes) organized technical guidance to increase the capacity of members of the Village Deliberation Agency (BPD) in village governance throughout East Kutai Regency.

The technical guidance was held for four days on May 15-18, 2023 at the Grand Ballroom Hotel Mercure, Samarinda (05/16). Participants consisted of 417 BPD members from 139 villages who were chairmen, representatives, and secretaries. The speakers presented were Dwi Herawati, Village Administration Hall Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), and Edi Sulistyanto, Director of Smart Academy.

The Head of the East Kutai Community and Village Empowerment Department (DPMDes), Yuriansyah, said that this technical guidance was held based on Minister of Home Affairs Regulation (Permendagri) No. 110 of 2016 on the Village Deliberation Agency (BPD) and Permendagri No. 73 of 2020 on Supervision of Village Financial Management.

“Our hope is that by providing this technical guidance to the BPD, at least they know their function as BPD administrators. Thus, they can synergize in working with the village head and village officials,” said Yuriansyah.

Further, Yuriansyah added that his party would conduct training for BPD members who had not participated in this session. He voiced, “This is our hope, the Regent also wants us to provide training to all BPDs so that in carrying out their duties they understand well and are in accordance with the rules.”

Meanwhile, East Kutai Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman in his remarks said that in 2023 the East Kutai Regency Government through the DPMDes will provide an opportunity for members of the BPD to increase their capacity.

Ardiansyah said, “Not all of them immediately understand the main tasks and functions related to various regulations governing village finances, village government, village apparatus, monitoring the running of government, drafting village regulations, etc. This is the knowledge that must be mastered by them.”

In addition, Ardiansyah also thanked DMPDes for working with the Smart Academy and the Ministry of Home Affairs in organizing this technical guidance. “Hopefully the results can provide readiness for them to carry out tasks in the field,” he concluded.
