The Regional Regulation on the Protection of Women was signed by the East Kutai House Speaker, Vice Speaker I, Vice Speaker II, and Regent.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Regency Government and the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) ratified the Regional Regulation on the Protection of Women (07/11). The signing of the draft regulation was carried out by House Speaker Joni, Vice Speaker I Asti Mazar, Vice Speaker II Arfan, and Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman in a plenary meeting at the East Kutai DPRD Building.
According to Ardiansyah, his party responded positively to the regional regulation proposed by the DPRD. “Hopefully it can be part of observing current conditions in the social sector, households, and so on which are the benchmarks for the regional regulation,” he said, quoted by ProKutim.
Ardiansyah further thanked all members of the council for all their participation in completing the draft in compliance with the arranged schedule. He added, “Hopefully what we have done and agreed on can bring utmost benefits to all people in East Kutai Regency.”
Meanwhile, House Member Hasbullah conveyed that this Regional Regulation on the Protection of Women is one of the efforts aimed at protecting women and providing a sense of security in fulfilling their rights.
Hasbullah said, “One of the efforts to strengthen women’s protection is to guide public policies on women. One form is issuing local regulations on the protection of women.” Moreover, the purpose of protecting women apart from preventing all forms of violence is also to provide a sense of security in carrying out their daily activities.
“The draft consists of 12 chapters and 29 articles, all of which have been matched with the legal regulations above them and also refer to academic texts. Thus, the special committee considers that this draft can be ratified as a Regional Regulation on the Protection of Women,” he concluded.
