Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Department of Housing and Residential Area (Disperkim) held an intermediate expose and focus group discussion (FGD) II on the sub-activity of planning and preventing and improving the quality of slum housing and settlements (RP2KPKPK) (11/10).

Taking place in the Arau Room, East Kutai Regent’s Office, the activity was filled with a presentation of an intermediate report on planning, preventing, and improving the quality of slum housing and settlements by experts. The meeting was continued by the explanation of desk mechanisms and preparation of desk rooms as well as a discussion of housing and residential areas working group (Pokja PKP) with the representatives of villages.

Previously, the department through its experts and working group of the housing and residential areas held a preliminary report presentation and village-level focus group discussion at the East Kutai Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Office on September 20-21, 2022.

Head of East Kutai Regional Development Planning Agency Noviari Noor said the activity was essential as a means for the relevant parties in providing input and suggestions in preparing quality slum housing and settlements.

“The participation of the community and village officials is necessary. We need them to actively report slum settlements in their respective areas to be included in the RP2KPKPK program. We try to prevent any complaints about slum settlements after the program is applied,” said Noviari.

The discussion aims to encourage community participation and disseminate information on reporting procedures and indicators included in housing and slum settlements as well as plans to be carried out in the future.

The activity was held in a hybrid manner through online and offline platforms, followed by cross-regional participants, spanning the Settlement Infrastructure Center for the East Kalimantan region, the East Kalimantan II Housing Provision Center, the Kalimantan Region IV River Area Center, the Region IV Forest Area Consolidation Center (BPHK), the National Defense Agency, Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Kalimantan Provincial, the East Kalimantan Public Works and Public Housing Service (PUPR), the program of the city without slums Kotaku East Kutai.
