The workshop entitled “How to Start a Business with a Business Roadmap” was attended by 25 MSMEs from six districts in East Kutai Regency.

Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Department conducted a workshop with the theme “How to Start a Business with a Business Roadmap” which took place at the Office of Customs and Excise Supervision and Service of Middle Customs Type C (KPPBC TMP C) Sangatta for two days on June 5- 6, 2023.

This activity was attended by 25 MSMEs from six districts, spanning North Sangatta, South Sangatta, Sangkulirang, Kaliorang, Bengalon, and Teluk Pandan. In his opening remarks, the Head of the East Kutai Cooperatives and SMEs Department, Darsafani, said that this workshop was initiated by the entrepreneurial community namely Global Entrepreneurs Professional (Genpro) which aims to identify business opportunities for the export market and see the readiness of East Kutai MSME players.

Darsafani said, “We will train micro-entrepreneurs in various matters, including licensing, processed quality, as well as product and packaging quality. Here participants are also trained to prepare themselves in terms of business planning, customer database improvement, marketing strategy and budgeting, and so on.”

After participating in this workshop, all participants will be curated to be included in exhibitions in three places, namely Bali, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta. According to Darsafani, this workshop is the second out of three planned. He hopes that the MSMEs that pass the curation are truly ready to penetrate the export market.

Exporting entities, raw material conditions, transportation facilities

Meanwhile, the Head of the Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office of Middle Customs Type C Sangatta, Benny Wismo Noegroho, said that his party received an additional task in improving MSME products to penetrate exports.

“Here we provide advice and input regarding specific constraints in East Kutai, including exporting entities, raw material conditions, transportation facilities to market products, and so forth,” voiced Benny.

According to Benny, there are many things that must be done together. Thus, collaboration and synergy are needed between vertical agencies and the regency government as well as MSMEs and the coaches. Currently, his party is working with the Ports of Samarinda, Balikpapan, and Surabaya for exports since East Kutai does not yet have a port that serves exports directly.

“I hope that in the future exports can be carried out directly from the port in East Kutai and this can reduce additional costs,” concluded Benny.
