The visit to PLN subsidiary Icon+ was part of a series of GCIO training and certification activities by the East Kalimantan Communication and Informatics Department.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — ICT network infrastructure is a basic requirement for carrying out digital transformation. According to the Head of the East Kutai Communication and Informatics, Encryption and Statistics Service (Diskominfo Staper), Ery Mulyadi, public access to digital technology is highly dependent on the existence of internet network facilities.
“If the ICT infrastructure network already exists, and covers all areas in East Kutai, it will be easy for the next program. If the network already exists, what remains is what we want to develop, for example, if we build internet network facilities there. The community can directly benefit from it,” said Ery during a visit to the office of the subsidiary of the State Electricity Company (PLN), PT Indonesia Comnets Plus (Icon+) in Gandul, Cinere District, Depok City, West Java (05/24).
During the visit, Ery had the opportunity to see several facilities at the Icon+ office, including a monitoring room, contact center, and data center.

This visit was part of a series of training and certification activities entitled Government Chief Information Officer (GCIO) held by the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan through the Department of Communication and Informatics in collaboration with PT Inixindo Amiete Mandiri (Inixindo Bandung). The training and certification took place over three days on May 23-25, 2023, at the Mercure Jakarta Gatot Subroto Hotel.
According to Ery, the Government of East Kalimantan, including East Kutai, has carried out several collaborations with Icon+ in providing bandwidth, increasing capacity through training, and building fiber optic (FO) networks.
Ery voiced, “We are grateful to Icon+ as this year we got 7 points to develop FO networks. This is funded by funding sources of Regional Revenues and Expenditures Budget (APBD) 1. Certainly, we hope that there will be a partnership between the local government and the private sector in this case Icon+, how can we develop existing infrastructure in our area in particular.”
Further, Ery hopes that with adequate ICT infrastructure, local government services to the community can be boosted along with increasing community capacity to access digital services. Thus, digital transformation can be realized immediately.
