Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Kutai’s Regency Government says the 50 million per Neighborhood Unit program positively impacts community development and economic improvement.
The Head of the Community and Village Empowerment Agency (DPMDes) at East Kutai, Yuriansyah, stated that one of the positive impacts felt by the community is the opening of roads. Yuriansyah also mentioned that the economy has been improving due to residents receiving SME training, enabling them to sell their crafts and boost their economy.
“To date, East Kutai has connected around 1860 roads and opened them across 18 districts. Drainage construction, electrical installations, and other development projects have also been completed,” said Yuriansyah.
Yuriansyah mentioned that the economy has been improving. The improvement is due to residents receiving SME training, enabling them to sell their crafts and boost their economy.
On the occasion, Yuriansyah explained that Regent Ardiansyah and Deputy Regent Kasmidi Bulang initiated the 50 Million Neighborhood Unit program to ensure the welfare of their community.
“The use of neighborhood unit funds supports physical development. If neighborhood infrastructure is not accommodated by village fund allocations (ADD) or village development planning meetings, around Rp40 million is used for infrastructure development,” he explained.
These funds are the outcome of neighborhood unit-level meetings proposed to the village. “The funds have been set at about Rp50 million per neighborhood unit. Therefore, we must implement it according to the regulations,” he concluded.
Neighborhood unit funds also aim to enhance human resource capacity in rural areas. If the infrastructure in the neighborhood units is adequate and human resources are well-trained, changes may occur in the future.
“If everyone is trained and the infrastructure is good, we might adjust the aid to equipment that meets community needs,” he concluded.
