Heaptalk, Jakarta — The National Border Management Agency (BNPP) held the 12th Annual Launch of the Integrated Border Development Movement (Gerbangdutas) on Tuesday (08/27).
Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, the Head of the National Border Management Agency (BNPP), stated that developing border areas contributes to achieving Indonesia Gold 2045. “In developing border areas, we can contribute. It’s about a more prosperous Indonesia and contributing towards Indonesia Gold in 2045,” said Minister Tito at the West Kalimantan Governor’s Office in Pontianak.
Building border regions is seen as a form of justice and equity in development that should reach even the country’s border regions. Tito said, “If the border areas are prosperous, the communities will act as a buffer zone for defense strategies. However, if the people are not prosperous, it is feared that nationalism may decline and other parties may easily influence them.”
On this occasion, Tito expressed optimism that Indonesia Gold 2045 will be realized under the three requirements Indonesia needs to become a dominant economic nation. “The first key is having a large workforce with a significant production capacity. The second is having abundant natural resources for production materials, and the third is having a vast area to accommodate production machinery,” he added.
Therefore, Tito outlined the strategy for developing the areas from 2025 to 2029, targeting 299 priority locations, 19 provinces, 75 regencies/cities, 22 National Strategic Activity Centers, 49 outer small islands, and the development of 26 Border Crossing Posts.
“One of the requirements for Golden Indonesia 2045 is building the border areas, and this is our collective task along with 27 ministries and agencies coordinated by BNPP, as well as 19 governors and 75 regents and mayors. Working together with proper and systematic planning and periodic evaluations, I believe the border areas will be developed,” he concluded.
