Heaptalk, Jakarta — Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that President-elect Prabowo Subianto has asked her to return as Finance Minister.
In their meeting, Prabowo wanted to ensure that the State Budget 2025 is well-prepared to support the priority programs of the Prabowo-Gibran administration. This includes discussions on optimizing state revenue increases from taxes, customs, and non-tax state revenue, as well as government spending and investment.
“He is very focused on how the state budget impacts the public, that is his emphasis,” Sri Mulyani said after meeting Prabowo at his residence on Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta, Monday (10/14). She also revealed that the budget for adding new ministry and agency nomenclatures, as well as the priority programs of the upcoming administration, has already been anticipated in the State Budget 2025.
During the meeting, Sri Mulyani explained that in the State Budget 2025, the government is targeting tax revenues of Rp2,189.3 trillion. “This is a 13% increase from this year’s projected tax revenue of Rp1,921.9 trillion,” said Sri Mulyani.
“We will assist as much as possible in changing ministries in terms of nomenclature and division of duties. That way, they do not take too long to work more effectively,” she added.
Furthermore, Sri Mulyani disclosed that the Ministry of Finance would remain a single entity. This means the plan to establish a National Revenue Agency (BPN) from the Ministry of Finance has been canceled. She said, “Prabowo emphasized the Ministry of Finance as one ministry.”
Sri Mulyani also addressed the potential cabinet expansion, which could affect state finances. She assured that the shifts and changes in the cabinet structure would not significantly burden the state budget. “Arrangements to support the programs of the President-elect have been prepared to ensure ministries can carry out their tasks effectively and efficiently,” she emphasized.
On this occasion, Sri Mulyani stressed the commitment to continued coordination with other ministers, especially those from new ministries. She stated, “We will communicate with the ministers to ensure that programs can be implemented as quickly and efficiently as possible.” With these measures, she hopes the new government will be able to deliver optimal results for the people of Indonesia.
