Heaptalk, Jakarta – The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian instructed the entire regional heads across Indonesia to innovate to boost regional income. According to Minister Tito, the first thing that should be carried out to achieve this target is changing the bureaucrat’s mindset.
“If the number of Regional-Original Income (PAD) in a certain area is diminutive, we can indicate that the economic growth in that area is sluggish,” conveyed Tito during the National Coordination Meeting and APBD Award at Grand Sahid, Jakarta. (12/18)
He added that this situation still continues to date, thus regional heads must twist this condition by looking for new opportunities to enhance regional income in order to improve society’s welfare.
“I saw that, in a bureaucrat’s mindset, it is always about how to spend the regional budget (from the central government) without thinking about how to enhance their regional income. Meanwhile, in fact, the allocation has been used a lot for employee salaries. In the end, the budget allocation that truly delivers to society is very diminutive,” conveyed Minister Tito.
Tito, further, instructed regional heads to be more innovative to boost regional origin income (PAD) and other income from regional-owned enterprises.
“Transformation that we should carried out is changing our mindset, from a bureaucrat to be an entrepreneur by seeking new opportunities,” voiced Tito.
Tito also revealed several strategies to escalate regional income, including:
- Provide an easy process for business and investment to stimulate the growth of the private sector.
- Provide business certainty through regulation.
- Empowering and enhancing governance for BUMD and regional public services agencies.
- Guarantee the political climate and security in the area.
