The Summit, presented a rich array of hot digital topics ranging from Articfical Intelligence, fintech and logistic applications, the investment landscape for latest technologies followed by discussion and networking opportunities.
DEPA IC and AICC, being the long-term partner with Xcion, supports the partnership and participated in this inaugural Summit that had further deepened the digital exchange between North Asia and South East Asia especially in this case Hong Kong and Indonesia. The exchanges among the digital network shared precious learning experiences to overcome challenges and facilitated necessary cross border network to capture growing digital opportunities especially in the RCEP countries.
The Vice Chairman of DEPA International Centre (DEPA IC) and Managing Director of APAC Innovation and Collaboration Centre (AICC) Ms. Alice Chan, who participated in this inaugural Summit, echoed the importance of such regional digital exchange platform during the exclusive interview with Heaptalk in Jakarta. “This Summit presents a curated programme with content that is close to the heart of the digital community. Web3, artificial intelligence, fintech, logistic tech and VC’s perspectives on the technology scene in Indonesia are simply esstential areas driving the next wave of cross border opportunities. With global economic focus moving to Asia, Indonesia market presents strong potential among the ASEAN countries. “
“The CIO Network, coupled with the community by Hong Kong Indonesia Association, presented a strong network among the Summit delegates that is a draw to the Summit too” added Ms Alice Chan.
When asked about the cross-border digital opportunities for collaboration, Ms Alice elaborated that “the cross-border digital collaboration is growing exponentially especially between North Asia and ASEAN countries. DEPA IC and AICC has rich experience in helping companies to internationalise, industry to collaborate and innovative technology to transfer among markets. In the past two years, the centres saw a growth in the cross-border collaboration expeially in the green sustainable industry, biomedical and pharmaceutical industry, healthcare industry, renewable energy, fintech, automotive industries and advanced manufacturing. “
However, the cross-border opportunities may not be just a bed of roses. “Cross-border collaboration opportunities especially those enabled by digital technologies can come with challenges.” cautioned Ms Alice. “When venturing digital collaboration overseas, the companies especially small and medim enterprises must be prepared to adjust and adapt to local rules and legal practices, local culture, differences in the financial return, differencs in the currency exchanges, supply and value chain. For digital companies, technology transfer, data management, digital value chain and feasibility of digital applications in the market can detour the business plan in the market”, further elaborated by Ms Alice.
“Our Centres especially AICC that helps a lot of companies to internationalise and land overseas, always see companies making one common assumption. Many companies think that their digital solutions or products can be a direct export to the target market, given the great success back in the home country. However, proven success in home market may not necessarily yield equal success in overseas countries. Company and product repositioning, precise customisation to the market needs, collaborating with the right partners, leveraging local resources, building sustainable supply chain, careful stretegy planning are some of the important factors for companies to consider before venturing out for cross-border collaboration. Always do the homework and make good study of the local market regulation for compliance are equally important.“
When further asked about the benefits of attending the Edge Summit. Ms Alice mentioned that “TheEdge Summit is very useful in expanding the network and gain wider exposure especially for the Indonesia market. The network presented by the Summit allows Indonesian, Hong Kong and other country delegates to interact and exhange perspectives before having the possbility to enter into partnership. “
After participating in the inaugural Summit, Ms Alice looks forward to having more runs of the Summit in the subsequent years that will bring in more insights in the latest digital and market trends, opportunities and collaboration. Ms Alice congratulated the organisers for successfully putting up the Summit for the delegates.
