Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Ventures and Temasek Foundation, a Singapore-based philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting sustainable development initiatives in Asia, have announced the third edition of the Climate Impact Innovations Challenge (CIIC) 2025. This competition aims to empower tech innovators to develop and scale sustainable solutions to address pressing ecological challenges and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Building on the success of the 2024 edition, CIIC 2025 offers a total prize pool of US$650,000, or around Rp10 billion, to support the piloting of innovative solutions in Indonesia. The competition seeks to attract groundbreaking ideas that can drive meaningful change in the face of the escalating global climate crisis.
“As the global environmental and climate crisis intensifies, we recognize the importance of creating a platform that fosters local solutions that are both practical and impactful in Indonesia. Creating intentional impact has always been part of East Ventures’ DNA, and we believe CIIC serves as a catalyst to empower innovations and push the boundaries of what is possible for a more sustainable future in Indonesia,” Partner at East Ventures, Avina Sugiarto, said.
Three Key Focus Areas for 2025
CIIC 2025 will focus on three critical tracks, each addressing distinct aspects of climate and environmental challenges:
- Energy Transition: This track seeks innovative ideas and solutions that promote renewable energy adoption, sustainable mobility systems, and efficient resource use. The goal is to enable inclusive, cost-effective energy transitions that benefit communities and industries while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Sustainable Agriculture: This category encourages solutions that promote sustainable food systems, resilient agricultural and aquaculture practices, and nature-based approaches. The focus is on scalable, inclusive strategies that enhance the livelihoods of farmers and fishermen, ensure food security, restore ecological balance, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- Circular Economy: This track aims to support innovative ideas that promote waste and water circularity, as well as solutions that help communities adapt to climate-related disasters. The objective is to prevent and manage pollution, improve community health, enhance resilience to climate change impacts, and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition to these tracks, CIIC 2025 is also seeking solutions that leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to address any of the three focus areas, recognizing AI’s potential as a powerful enabler of innovation.
