Heaptalk, Jakarta — Kao Indonesia, in collaboration with Trans Digital Lifestyle Group (TDLG), is bringing Tokyo Girls Collection (TGC) to Indonesia through Kao presents TGC Jakarta 2025. The event combines talent scouting and a reality show focused on women’s empowerment.
This international fashion festival, which has been held in Japan for over 20 years, is known as the largest entertainment event blending fashion, music, pop culture, and celebrities from various fields on one stage. Making its debut in Indonesia, the festival adopts the theme ‘A Stage for Every Woman to Shine’ to promote inclusivity, diversity, and high-quality entertainment on the Indonesian stage.
Yukiko Ikeda, Executive Officer and Chief Producer of W Tokyo Inc., the organizer of TGC Japan, stated that 2025 marks TGC’s 20th anniversary, with the theme ‘Co-Creation, Co-Produce.’ “We aim to spread Japanese girls’ culture worldwide by collaborating with various stakeholders, both domestic and international. TGC features diverse fashion brands, models, actors, influencers, and comedians. There are live performances, dance stages, and surprise appearances by top international artists, delivering exciting entertainment all day,” Yukiko said during the TGC Jakarta 2025 press conference in South Jakarta (05/27).
Involving 4 Indonesian designers

Jakarta was chosen as the first host city as it is the national hub for creative communities and a strategic starting point for building an inclusive movement. Through a scouting program across five major cities, TGC Jakarta 2025 has gathered over 1,000 young and talented individuals. Selection criteria include visual appeal, originality, strong character, and growth potential.
Putri Tanjung, CEO of Trans Digital Lifestyle Group (TDLG) and the event’s initiator, emphasized that every woman has an equal opportunity to showcase her uniqueness, not just in physical appearance but also in spirit, vision, and personal story. “We’re proud because TGC has been running for 20 years and is famous as a fashion show. More than that, it’s deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Most importantly, its values—women’s empowerment and inclusivity—align closely with Trans Digital Lifestyle Group and Beautynesia. That’s why we’re thrilled to bring this incredible platform to Indonesia,” Putri said (05/27).
Organizers will select the top 20 from the 1,000 participants. During the final show, selected talents will model outfits by four Indonesian designers. Afterward, the pool will be reduced to a top 10, who will then enter the reality show. Putri said the reality show will include mentorship sessions featuring various experts. These sessions aim to equip participants with fashion, branding, personal values, and financial independence knowledge. The reality show will air on YouTube starting June 2025.
Emphasizing personal hygiene
Through this collaboration, Kao Indonesia is also launching Biore Breeze Deodorant for Body, an innovation tailored to the specific needs of Indonesian women, especially hijab wearers. Bun Susilowati, VP of Marketing at Kao Indonesia, explained that the company supports women in showcasing beauty beyond appearance, emphasizing personal hygiene to boost confidence and empowerment.
“TGC’s theme, ‘A Stage for Every Woman to Shine,’ aligns perfectly with Kao Indonesia’s ‘kirei lifestyle innovation philosophy.’ We want to make a real impact by reaching more women, helping them live better lives, and empowering them in the long run,” Susi said.
Indonesian designers, including Monique Soeriaatmadja, Tities Sapoetra, Danjyo Hyoji, and Hartono Gan, will enliven the final show of Kao presents TGC Jakarta 2025. In addition to the fashion show, the event will feature performances by Indonesian and Japanese singers and musicians. Tickets for the final show go on sale starting May 27, 2025.
