Heaptalk, Jakarta — In the future, electric cars will become the future of Indonesia’s automotive industry due to supply of raw materials to support production in Indonesia.
On Thursday (15/02), President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo mentioned said matter while opening the 2024 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) at JiExpo, Central Jakarta.
Jokowi also welcomed the return on 2024 IIMS. “I see numerous electric cars being exhibited here. I think this exhibition reflects what will become the future of Indonesia’s automotive industry,” he said.
Through that opportunity, Jokowi warmly greeted the private startup manufacturer that located in Vietnam called VinFast. Former Governor of DKI Jakarta thought, the existence of VinFast and other APM become the proof of Indonesia’s ability to become electricity producer.
Speaking of target, Jokowi explained that 2024 IIMS is expected to gain more than 470.000 visitors within the 11 days period, with transaction target in USD338 (USD1 equals to Rp15,655). The target is considered realistic because the exhibition shows numerous models and new brands in Indonesia, including BYD and VinFast, the electric car manufacturers from China and Vietnam.
