Heaptalk, Jakarta — Bank Indonesia will present the Indonesia International Modest Fashion Festival (IN2MF) in Paris 2024 in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises and the Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC).
For the second time in Paris, IN2MF will participate in a fashion showcase and exhibition on September 7 at Salle Wagram and the international trade show Who’s Next on September 8-10 at Porte de Versailles. These activities are part of Jakarta’s main IN2MF event scheduled from October 30 to November 3, 2024. Earlier this year, the fashion festival was held in Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, and Istanbul.
In more detail, IN2MF in Paris 2024 will highlight Indonesia’s cultural uniqueness and heritage, reflected in the use of local resources, including textiles and traditional fabrics. This concept is seen as a competitive advantage for Indonesian modest fashion products compared to those from other countries. Additionally, this event encourages Indonesian modest fashion industry players to implement sustainability concepts.
Strengthening Indonesia’s cultural identity

According to Ita Rulina, Director of the Sharia Economics and Finance Department at Bank Indonesia, the modest fashion sector is integral to the rapidly growing halal industry. The hallmark of IN2MF lies in the standard look that covers the body (Sharia) using traditional fabrics. Ita conveyed that using traditional fabrics is an effort to strengthen Indonesia’s cultural identity, use more environmentally friendly materials, and provide uniqueness in branding Indonesian modest fashion internationally.
“Overall, IN2MF is part of a broader and more comprehensive strategy to promote innovation and collaboration in the national modest fashion industry, strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global market, and accelerate the development of the national sharia economy,” Ita explained in South Jakarta (08/26).
The fashion showcase and exhibition at Salle Wagram, Paris, aims to promote the works of Indonesian Sharia Creative Industry (IKRA) members in the modest fashion sector, curated and nurtured by Bank Indonesia. Five designers and brands selected from the IKRA Indonesia program will present their Spring-Summer 2025 collections using Indonesian traditional fabrics, including Batik Chic, Yece by Yeti Topiah, Luvnic by Luffi, Brilianto, and Jamilah x Prafito by Tujuh Bersaudara. In addition, two other national designers and members of the IKRA Board, namely Itang Yunasz and Wignyo, will also participate.
Featuring Dian Pelangi and Dalinda

On this occasion, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs of the Republic of Indonesia is also including its nurtured brand, Dama Kara. IN2MF in Paris will feature guest designers Dian Pelangi from Indonesia and Dalinda from Paris. The collection will explore the diversity of Indonesia’s traditional textiles, such as batik, songket, ikat weaving, non-machine loom, ecoprint, and embroidery.
Furthermore, four designers and brands consisting of three IKRA members and one IKRA Board member, namely Batik Chic, Luvnic by Luffi, Brilianto, and Itang Yunasz, will participate in the international trade show Who’s Next, which will take place on September 8-10, 2024, at Porte de Versailles, Paris. The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Paris also supports IN2MF in Paris 2024.
Ali Charisma, Advisory Board of the Indonesian Fashion Chamber, expressed his hope that IN2MF in Paris will be utilized by participating designers and brands to target sustainable or long-term business transactions, including optimizing their business ecosystem towards B2B. “By consistently showcasing the uniqueness or characteristics of modest fashion products that are uniquely Indonesian, one of which is the use of Indonesian traditional fabrics, our products become standout and superior to those made in other countries,” Ali concluded.
