Heaptalk, Jakarta — Agate International, a game development company in Indonesia, has launched the Talent Scouting Academy (TSA) Game Fest through Agate Academy in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo).
This event, supported by the West Java Department of Tourism and Culture, is part of the TSA program under Kominfo’s Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS). The series of this game competition will take place over approximately three months, from July to September 2024.

The competition kicks off with the Game Jam stage, where 40 teams will compete to create a game demo within one week from July 12 to July 21. A rigorous selection process will then identify the top 20 teams to advance to the intensive training stage.
In August, participants who pass the preliminary stage will undergo direct training with experienced mentors in Programming, Game Design, Art, and Product Management. The exhibition will be the pinnacle of the event, where the top 10 teams will showcase their work in Bandung on September 28-29. Visitors can try out the game prototypes created by these ten teams. Meanwhile, judges will select the top 3 teams to compete for a total prize of Rp30 million.

Agate Co-Founder and CEO Shieny Aprilia stated, “We are always committed to supporting the development of the local game industry and providing a platform for young talents to express themselves through their creations. TSA Game Fest is not only about game creation but also about building networks and creating new opportunities for talents who want to be involved in this industry.”
Acting Head of the Professional Development and Certification Center at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Anny Triana, mentioned that students will receive game training and guidance. They will also receive hands-on training in game competitions in the TSA Game Fest program. “The results of this training can be converted into credits as a substitute for coursework. Therefore, students who wish to register must obtain a Recommendation Letter from their University in the format that will be provided later,” Anny stated.
According to Rispiaga, Head of the Tourism Industry Sector of the West Java Department of Tourism and Culture, the application and game sub-sector has tremendous potential. With a significant growth rate of 13.41% per year and 6,167 business units, this sub-sector contributed Rp1,069 trillion to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of West Java’s creative economy, which is equivalent to 0.06% of the total GRDP of West Java in 2020.
“The West Java Provincial Department of Tourism and Culture is serious about enhancing the application and game sub-sector with various activities we have carried out. The TSA Game Fest event perfectly complements our application and game programs, which we hope will serve as the starting point for incubating this sub-sector,” Rispiaga concluded.
