IIETE 2023 will be held on February 16-19 aiming to bridge prospective students and universities to be globally competitive when entering the career world.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — An international education exhibition, namely the Indonesia International Education Training Expo & Conference (IIETE) will be held on February 16-19, 2023, located at the Jakarta Convention Center. Carrying the theme Never Stop Learning, the exhibition aims to bridge prospective students and dream colleges to be globally competitive when entering the career world.
This event is held to optimize the implementation of the Kampus Merdeka program toward achieving Golden Indonesia 2045. Kampus Merdeka program was launched by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim in early 2020 concurrently with the launch of the Merdeka Belajar program.
The program was launched based on issues of relevance and quality in higher education which were felt to have not matched the targeted achievements. According to Nadiem, higher education has not become a critical factor capable of giving birth to entrepreneurs with the orientation of job creation and independence. This statement is supported by the fact that only 20% of university graduates are absorbed by the career world.
Moreover, a study from McKinsey said that by 2030 there will be around 27-46 million new jobs that can be created with 10 million jobs of which come from new and uncommon fields. Of that amount, it is estimated that 23 million jobs can be replaced by the automation process. Therefore, higher education is expected to encourage the learning of new skills.
IIETE, which has been held 31 times by Wahyu Promo Citra (WPC), has become a benchmark for the development of Indonesian higher education. Occupying an area of 4,000 m2 in Hall B of JCC, the exhibition will present 80 exhibitors from favorite public and private universities in Indonesia and abroad. In addition, various course institutions, digital education, education support industries, and educational institutions will also present their representatives.
A number of favorite campuses in Indonesia that will attend IIETE 2023 include the University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Padjadjaran University, Diponegoro University, Surabaya Institute of Technology, and the Bogor Agricultural Institute. Representatives from overseas campuses will also enliven the exhibition, spanning Kuala Lumpur International Education Consortium (KLIEC) Malaysia, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, as well as several universities from Australia, Russia, and Turkey.
Targeting 30 thousand visitors
Further, IIETE 2023 is expected to attract the attention of at least 30 thousand visitors. In previous years, this exhibition was visited by no less than 30 thousand visitors from various groups, primarily students of grade 12 high schools, vocational high schools, or Aliyah madrasas from Jakarta and its surroundings.
“IIETE has strategic value as it provides information to prospective students, especially high school/vocational/Aliyah madrasas students, regarding higher education products, spanning education programs at the diploma, bachelor, master, doctoral, profession, parallel classes, international classes, training programs, and official programs both domestically and abroad,” said Deputy Director Wahyu Promo Citra Satrio Sukur at the launch of the IIETE 2023 at the office of DKI Jakarta Provincial Education Department (01/27).
To enliven the exhibition, WPC invites a number of accomplished young influencers including health influencer Ayman Alatas, as well as more than 100 Olympic medalists at the international level Devon and Mischka. Apart from that, students can also take part in multiple competitions that are contested during the exhibition, spanning English speech and Chinese storytelling.
Meanwhile, teachers and principals who want to scale up their capacity as actors in the field of education can take part in the talk show “School Digitalization with the ICT Teacher Community”.
“By organizing IIETE 2023, we hope that this exhibition can not only provide information about the field of higher education but can also foster optimism about Indonesian education that Indonesian diploma and bachelor graduates can compete with graduates from other countries in facing the rapid development of the career industry, “concluded Satrio.
