Heaptalk, Jakarta — Bank Indonesia organizes the peak event of the Indonesia International Modest Fashion Festival (IN2MF) on October 25-29, 2023 at Cendrawasih and Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

In collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs and the Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC), this year’s event adopts the theme ‘Sustainable modest Indonesian fashion through Indonesian wastra‘. IN2MF is expected to strengthen the expansion of Indonesia’s modest fashion production and halal lifestyle to the global market.

IN2MF 2023 will present a series of fashion shows, international standard trade exhibitions, talk shows, and business matching. There will be 174 Indonesian and international designers in the fashion show. More than 200 brands will also be displayed in the fashion exhibition, including ready-to-wear deluxe and streetwear, office wear and cocktail wear (semi-formal), as well as sharia evening wear (party/formal clothes).

Attending the kick-off of the IN2MF, the Director of the Sharia Economics and Finance Department of Bank Indonesia Ita Rulina said that Indonesian modest fashion has great potential to advance Sharia economics and finance.

“Our dream for the future is to make Indonesian modest fashion a world reference. Apart from boosting sales volume, the aim is also to grow a wider global market. We hope that the Indonesian modest fashion sector continues to develop, not only B2C but also B2B. To create a strong Indonesian modest fashion industry, surely all parties must synergize and collaborate,” Ita explained in Jakarta (10/13).

Part of the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF)

The Indonesia International Modest Fashion Festival is part of the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF). Since the beginning of 2023, IN2MF has been held in several major cities in the world, namely Dubai, Pretoria, and Paris.

According to the Assistant Deputy for Partnerships and Market Expansion of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Fixy, marketing intensification to expand the MSME market in the textile and fashion sector is a continuous effort carried out by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs.

“We hope that IN2MF can be leveraged by MSME players in the country to improve the quality of their products using Indonesian wastra to increase opportunities to go global. We hope that Indonesia will become a center for modest fashion with creativity on wastra such as batik, weaving, and others. That way, we can compete with products made abroad,” said Fixy.

This year’s IN2MF prioritizes the concept of sustainability and optimizing the use of Indonesian textiles and local fabrics as a catalyst for Indonesia’s modest fashion ecosystem from upstream to downstream. National Chairman of the Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC) Ali Charisma emphasized that IN2MF optimizes the use of local resources by referring to global trends.

Ali added, “The use of Indonesian traditional wastra is an advantage of Indonesian modest fashion products. In fact, Indonesia is predicted to become a reference for modest fashion in the world with its distinctive culture. We hope that designers and modest fashion brands in Indonesia will continue to be creative and innovate to produce works that can be accepted by the global market.”
