Heaptalk, Jakarta — Amazon Web Services (AWS) Indonesia, a cloud platform company, organized AWS Cloud Day Indonesia 2022 on September 1st, 2022 at the Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place, Jakarta. Bringing up the message of accelerating Indonesia’s digital transformation, the event presents interesting discussions of featured topics, specifically artificial intelligence (AI), data and analytics, migration, the developer track, financial services, and industrial transformation.
According to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesia requires numerous digital talents in the near future. “Indonesia is estimated to require around 600,000 digital talents per year. In the next fifteen years, we will require around 9 million digital talents to be generated. Those present today, certainly, know or have digital literacy,” he said during the opening of AWS Cloud Day Indonesia 2022 (01/09).
Based on the McKinsey study, there will be 23 million jobs that can be replaced by automation process in 2030. Up to that time, around 27—46 million new jobs can be created. Ten million jobs of which come from new and uncommon fields. Hence, to obtain the benefits of the shifting job trend, Indonesian workers need to learn new skills, one of which is digital literacy.
Hariz Izmee, Director of ASEAN Growth Markets of AWS, delivered the AWS journey in Indonesia began in 2018 by opening an office in Jakarta, which has now grown to more than 150 people. The Entity also expanded its infrastructure in Indonesia. In 2019, the Entity announced to build AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region.
This investment was followed by the launch of AWS Outpost, which enables multiple customers to use AWS services and run their workloads in local facilities in Indonesia. In early 2021, the Company launched Amazon CloudFront which allows customers to have lower latency, which provides a 30% increase in their latency.
The Company has finally completed the construction of the data center by the end of 2021. Amazon Web Services also launched its first AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region on December 14th, 2021. “We invest more than Rp71 trillion,” said Hariz (01/09). The amount is equivalent to US$4,76 billion.
The breakout sessions are divided into four themes, namely the FSI cloud forum, industrial transformation, startup innovation, and developer track. Each session consists of six timetables presented by prominent speakers. Besides breakout sessions, AWS Cloud Day Indonesia 2022 also provides partner solution zones, customer experience, developer community lounge, and AWS training and certification.
