MacGPT 3.0 has three main features, spanning Global, Inline, and Menu Bar. With the incorporation of ChatGPT-4, the chatbot can proceed instructions with images.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Apple’s MacGPT, an app for macOS that allow users instantly access ChatGPT from the menu bar, has been improved to the 3.0 version. This latest version includes the addition of several new features, allowing the technology to be more accessible for users.
Developed by Jordi Bruin, MacGPT 3.0 now has Global and Inline features. The Global feature lets users access ChatGPT from anywhere on their Mac. By activating the Global text field that pops up in the middle of the screen, users can start chatting with MacGPT’s assistance.
Meanwhile, the Inline feature allows users to bring ChatGPT straight into their text fields. Users require to type their trigger phrase and prompt to make the AI chatbot do the writing tasks. ChatGPT is also accessible through the menu bar of the website or natively with the API.
In addition to the new features, ChatGPT-4 integration delivers some other improvements, including using images to search, being a virtual assistant for the visually impaired, and boosting conversational skills in Duolingo, as reported by TechRadar.
With the incorporation of ChatGPT-4, the AI chatbot can proceed instructions with images. The language model is capable to list several potential recipes after being shown an image of eggs, flour, and milk and asked what we could make with the ingredients.
MacGPT is only supported on macOS Monterey and Ventura as the platform using some of the latest APIs. According to Jordi Bruin, MacGPT loads the ChatGPT chat interface in a web browser. Users can log in with OpenAI credentials and then click the menu bar icon to start a conversation. Users can also assign a keyboard shortcut by clicking the gear icon to activate MacGPT by moving their mouse.
Further, users can use their OpenAI API key to use GPT-4 by paying for ChatGPT Plus. The subscription plan is $20 per month. Users also need to sign up for the waitlist to use GPT-4.
