Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair (Inacraft) organized Inacraft Forum to provide a platform for collaboration and share insight to support MSMEs in keeping up with the current trend.
Chairwoman BPC Asephi Jepara, Kibtiyah, who also a furniture entrepreneur, stated that the trend in furniture industry remains strong along with the growth of population. Meanwhile, the shift in the design and the production process is inevitable.
Recently, world society tends to choose brands that adopts sustainable concept, especially for European market. Thus, the regulation in the region becomes more strict, especially regarding the allowance and licensing.
“The requirement becomes more specific, particularly for furniture products as it is made of wood,” stated Kibtiyah.
She also highlighted the importance of innovation in craft industry. “For example, in furniture industry people tend to combine wood and other components, such as PVC, for making furniture. The furniture waste also can be utilized as the material for other crafts, such as wood spoon, thus the sustainability principles are well-implemented,” added Kibtiyah.
Meanwhile, President of Malaysia Craft Council, Nik Faiz Nik M. Amin, conveyed the importance of regeneration of craftsman in every area. He also invited the entire craftsmen to learn continuously from multiple regions to develop skill, insight, and create new innovation.
First Deputy Mayor of Yaraz City, Zhauynbekova Guidana, during the forum also conveyed that both countries can share the spirit of collaboration together to dig more opportunities in the future and strengthen the bilateral relationship.
Regarding the fashion trend, Leny Agustin, the Chairwoman of Indonesia Fashion Chamber, stated that Indonesian craft has global competitiveness perceiving its uniqueness which derives from Indonesian culture.
