Heaptalk, Jakarta — Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian who also heads the National Border Management Agency (BNPP), revealed that they have made budget efficiencies amounting to Rp150.8 billion, or 56.45% of the total budget for 2025. The budget cut will not affect the operation of 15 border crossing posts.
Tito explained this during a hearing discussing the 2024 performance evaluation and work program held in the Meeting Room of Commission II, House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) on Monday (03/02). “BNPP efficiency is set at IDR 150 billion, or 56.45%,” Tito stated.
Initially, the BNPP budget ceiling ex officio was Rp267,135,531,000. Following the efficiency directive, the remaining budget ceiling is Rp116,335,531,000. He said, “This is what BNPP utilizes, and BNPP further details it. Both at the Ministry of Home Affairs and BNPP, with the letter from the Ministry of Finance, we scrutinize every echelon component to make as many efficiencies as possible.”
He also explained that, with this budget efficiency, BNPP will prioritize essential matters in 2025. These matters include employee expenses, and the operational handling of 15 Border Crossing Posts (PLBN) spread across national borders. “15 PLBNs must remain operational. This is what we are currently exercising. We will continue to exercise in detail to scrutinize budget items that we can make efficient, especially those 16 items,” Tito added.
The basis for budget efficiency is based on Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2025 on Efficiency in Expenditures in the Implementation of the State Budget and Regional Budget for Fiscal Year 2025. Efficiency is also based on the Minister of Finance’s Letter No. S-37/MK.02/2025, dated January 24, 2025.
