Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s Minister of Industry will continue implementing strategic policies further to enhance the development of the national manufacturing sector. This intention aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s target of achieving an economic enhancement of 8%.
“We are ready to accelerate. In line with the President’s directives, specifically for the manufacturing sector, there must be a direct correlation between the growth of each industry and the welfare of the people. This means that investments must be well-directed and benefit society at large. We will work out the formulation,” Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang said.
The Minister emphasized that his party would work following the National Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIN) for 2025-2045, which outlines the development of 10 priority industries.
“We are optimistic that the manufacturing sector will continue to be the most significant contributor to the national economy. For this reason, we will refine the existing roadmap over the next two or three years,” he added.
Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza echoed this sentiment, stressing that the manufacturing sector remains a key driver. “Industry is like the heart, pumping blood and providing oxygen throughout the body. It must be strengthened and given the necessary ‘vitamins’ and ‘supplements’ to remain strong and continue to grow,” he explained.
Minister Agus added that the ministry remains committed to advancing the downstream program. “This program is not just focused on a few commodities but will extend to all commodities that can create added value, which, in turn, will create jobs,” he explained.
The following strategy involves developing an industrial structure that deepens from upstream to downstream based on the availability of abundant natural resources. “As a country rich in natural resources and with a large domestic market, Indonesia always holds great potential to become one of the world’s leading industrial nations,” he added.
To achieve this, synergy between the Ministry of Industry and stakeholders is essential, starting from policy formulation on industry and trade, strengthening supply chains, developing human resources, facilitating financing, and advancing research and technology.
“In the end, the national manufacturing sector is expected to become the backbone of the national economy, helping Indonesia achieve its goal of inclusive, productive, and sustainable economic growth,” Agus concluded.
