Heaptalk, Jakarta — UD Trucks introduced its new innovation UD Trucks Quester during the world class automotive exhibition the 2024 GIIAS on Wednesday (07/17). This new vehicle is equipped with UD Trucks’s automatic transition technology named Easy and Safe Controlled Transmission (ESCOT).
Johan Kleinsteuber, Vice President of International Sales of UD Trucks Corporation, stated, “Today, we saw a tremendous demand for a safe vehicle that also offers better fuel consumption efficiency, maximizes operational time, and adopts sustainability concept. Together with our partner, Astra Group, we are committed to providing a better life for our customers with a global innovative truck.”
Presenting this technology, ESCOT is claimed to enhance fuel consumption efficiency, escalate driving experience, and scale up productivity. Moreover, this innovation also reflects UD Trucks’s commitment to supporting the Indonesian Government’s sustainability goal by offering a solution that can reduce carbon emissions significantly.

According to the President Director of UD Trucks Indonesia, Toshihiko Odawara, this new innovation offers a simple and smart concept. In the simplicity concept, the truck features the same mechanism as a manual transmission, an electronically controlled gear shift, a lighter weight (353 kg) to provide efficient fuel consumption, and a simple shift pattern with a +/—switch to provide a convenient driving experience. Meanwhile, the smart notion is reflected through its advanced software, automatic shift selection, and greater comfort and living space.
“UD Trucks Quester with ESCOT represents our dedication to meeting Indonesian unique market demand. This truck is designed to provide exceptional performance and reliability, ensuring that our customers can overcome modern logistic challenges with confidence,” conveyed Toshihiko Odawara,
