Heaptalk, Jakarta — After the lockbit 3.0 incident, the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights decided to relocate its server to Amazon Web Service (AWS).
“AWS is opted from the recommendation of the management of Peduli Lindungi apps by Ministry of Health. Perceiving its portfolio, AWS becomes an optin to secure immigration data,” stated the Director General of Immigration Kemkumham, Silmy Karim (07/02).
This new server is expected to be more stable and has capability to avoid various cyberattack, thus the immigration process can work well.
“I choose it based on the references of its users who stated that it works well. Peduli Lindungi recorded the highest traffic during the pandemic. We want the apps working well, not down. This is why we continue to enhance our system,” said Silmy.
He also admitted that the Brain Chiper attack to PDNS in Surabaya is a valuable lesson for both government and private sectors. The backup is always needed, especially when the main system cannot be accessed.
“For example, what if the earthquake hit Surabaya, will we choose to obtain data from PDN Surabaya? of course not, we will choose to get data from another area. This is not about the location of the demand. Data center must have backup,” voiced Silmy.
For information, after the lockbit 3.0 attack the temporary national data center in Surabaya on Thursday (06/20), the government still strives to restore the system gradually. According to Kominfo, the recovery process is claimed to be finished this July.
