Heaptalk, Jakarta – Indonesian band Senyawa introduced its second album, Selisih, last night at Glamz, Jakarta (06/07). Containing eleven songs, Selisih (means: difference) reflects various forms of difference, quarrels, and a battle experienced by people in their daily life.
“The message in this album is about being mature, and I hope Selisih can get appreciation (from people) and the message can be delivered,” stated the band’s guitarist and vocalist, Candra.
According to Candra, the word ‘Selisih’ is chosen as it truly reflects the relation between one track and the other tracks.
“Between the first song, the second song, and other songs in Selisih album, we cannot see any relation to each other. But from this, we can see the ‘difference’,” stated Candra.
He added that this album is different from their previous album, which adopted multiple genres. In Selisih, they focus on folk acoustic by combining multiple acoustic instruments. However, Senyawa claimed not to limit themselves to only one genre.

“About the genre, there is no fixed genre. We just follow the song’s flow, and let the song chooses its core. we set them free,” stated Candra.
Regarding the recording process, Candra shared that they needed around six months to create this brand-new album. The band also spent one month to prepare the launch of Selisih.
During the occasion, Senyawa also launched a music video for one of Senyawa’s songs titled Ale. Adopting a 2D animation concept, the music video is hoped to deliver a unique visual experience and add more dimension to its listeners in enjoying Senyawa’s music. The 2D animation MV is able to depict the story of this song in a creative and artistic way.
Producing this album, the frontman Candra and Ale also introduced their new band members.
“In the first album, there is only Ale and I. But, in this album we have new members, Rensha as bassist, Ghofar as drummer, and Hafi as keyboardist. Senyawa is nothing without them,” stated Candra.
