Heaptalk, Dumai — Indonesian President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo commemorated the Birth of Pancasila in Dumai on Saturday (06/01). Visiting the city, Jokowi delivered his appreciation to Indonesian children towards the growth of oil production in the Rokan Block Dumai after the ownership was moved from the US’s Chevron into Indonesia’s Pertamina.
“I would like to underscore that Rokan Block in Riau Province is 100% owned by Pertamina, it is owned by Indonesia and 100% managed by our country,” stated Jokowi on Saturday (01/06).
He mentioned that after the ownership change, the oil production in this oil block grew from 130,000 barrels to 162,000 barrels per day. The significant enhancement was demonstrated after the management was fully handled by the Indonesian children.
“After our children managed our own resources, a good enhancement happened, and I set a target for them to achieve over 200,” said Jokowi.
For information, President Jokowi visited Riau Province for two days on 31 May and 1 June. On the second day, Jokowi was in Dumai to lead the ceremony of the birth of Pancasila. Moreover, the 7th Indonesian President also monitored the stability of staple food prices and the supply chain by visiting Dumai’s traditional market and the local Logistics Agency (BULOG).
Welcoming the president’s visit, Dumai’s Mayor Paisal SKM Mars proposed several initiatives to develop the city’s infrastructure. These ideas include establishing sheet pile walls, building Parit Kitang Ring Road, and reactivating Pinang Kampai Airport.
