Heaptalk, Jakarta — Pertamina develops Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) to advance the use of eco-green vehicle in Indonesia.
For information, DEF is a diesel filter fluid that is able to reduce hazardous gases released to the atmosphere as the output of diesel engine combustion such as Nitrogen Oxide (NOx). DEF is made from high-quality urea as the main ingredient and have unique characteristics, including odorless, colorless, and nontoxic.
In addition to reducing emission, SVP Technology innovation of Pertaina, Oki Muraza, stated that DEF also can enhance machine efficiency and machine durability.
Optimizing the DEF potency, Pertamina Lubricants invites various parties including Technology Innovation Pertamina as product formulator, Pupuk Kujang Cikampek (PKC) as the raw material provider for low biuret urea, Sintas Kurama Perdana (SKP) – PKC ‘s subsidiary who contributes to provide production facilities. In this collaboration, Pertamina Lubricants act as the brand owner to assist the distribution of DEF products to various strategic sectors, including mining, logistics, and brand distributor.
The collaboration is marked by the MoU signing of DEF Product Commercialization which conducted by all parties’ representative in Jakarta (05/20).
The President Director of Pertamina Lubricants Werry Prayogi stated, “This MoU will be the initial step of Pertamina, as the fuel distributors and the actor who reduce diesel vehicle emissions, to provide one stop solution to the sector which has an estimated market size of 18,000 kilo litters per year.
Through this measure, Pertamina Lubricants is optimistic to adapt with the latest regulation and market demand, thus the giant company plays a critical role to achieve Euro 5 and Euro 6 emissions standard in Indonesia.
In the further step, entering product commercialization stage, Pertamina Lubricant will follow certification process to obtain Trademark AdBlue certification by VDA. AdBlue is a diesel exhaust fluid used in vehicles with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology to reduce harmful gases being released into the atmosphere.
