Heaptalk, Jakarta — Joining the 2024 IIMS becomes the appearance of state-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero) emphasize its commitment to develop a green ecosystem through electrical vehicle in Indonesia.
On Thursday (15/02), the President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo stated on the press conference, “PLN is ready to become the trendsetter of electric vehicle ecosystem. PLN has done numerous innovations and developments to uphold this ecosystem starting from upstream to downstream.”
Darmawan, during his press release also mentioned that PLN welcomes collaboration with related parties for the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) and Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Station (SPBKLU) development. PLN continues to collaborate with new business sectors and industries that intent to make SPKLU and SPBKLU as a new business opportunity.
“We build together energy charging facilities at every point. We invite related parties to establish SPKLU and SPBKLU in offices, malls, rest areas, public gathering places and so on. This will support SPKLU to sprout rapidly and accelerate the usage of electric vehicles,” said Darmawan.
Darmawan mentioned that there are currently 1.124 SPKLU units, 1.839 SPBKLU units, and 9.558 Public Electric Charging Station (SPLU) stations that spread across the country.
Furthermore, PLN also supports electric motorbike conversion program to escalate the environmental-friendly vehicles growth. PLN also continues to give discount promo for new installation cost and additional home power for home charging installment and discount on electricity usage from 10 PM to 5 AM.
“PLN Mobile has also become the one stop solution for all services related to electric vehicles. Hopefully it can facilitate the public for the transition process to electric vehicles,” said Darmawan.
From the beginning, PLN has done collaborations with three electric motor manufacturers, such as Volta, Selis, and GESITS, as well as Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) to accelerate the electric vehicle penetration to the public. This is to support the development of electricity ecosystem that has been developed for more than 108 thousand units in December 2023.
“Through said collaboration, publics who interested in electric vehicles can purchase it right away through the existing marketplace feature in the PLN Mobile application. This makes it easier for citizens who want to shift to electric vehicles,” he said.
PLN also build the first Green Hydrogen Plant (GHP) in Indonesia to respond the energy transition challenges. The green production scale will continue to be developed. Not only that, to establish an end-to-end hydrogen based vehicle ecosystem in the future, PLN will legalize the first Hydrogen Refueling Station in the Indonesia.
“Just like the electric vehicles where we become the pioneer in establishing the ecosystem. Through this we are confident PLN will be the key player in providing green hydrogen for several necessities, especially for hydrogen based vehicles,” Darmawan stated.
Since the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle Program, PLN has done innovation and collaboration to facilitate the electricity usage. Through the theme of “Your Infinite Autotainment” in the 2024 IIMS, PLN will promote service products and give full support for the future automotive development.
