Heaptalk, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati had an encounter with Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President, Muhammed Al-Jasser, in Jeddah to discuss Indonesia’s role in world sharia economy (17/12).
For information, IsDB is one of the biggest multilateral development banks in the world and the only one that provides sharia financial principles.
“Still from the Arab peninsula, I continue my work and visit a meeting in Saudi Arabia. Through this opportunity, I had an encounter with the President of Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Muhammed Al-Jasser, IsDB is one of the biggest multilateral development banks in the world and the only one that provides sharia financial principles,” said Sri Mulyani as quoted from the Instagram page @smindrawati, Monday (18/12).
She explained, the relationship between IsDB and Indonesia is close and tight. Indonesia even becomes the third biggest shareholder in IsDB. The total number is increasing from the previous time which places Indonesia in the 12th position out of 57 countries. Moreover, IsDB also has a Regional Hub Office in Bilangan, South Jakarta and is actually one out of 11 regional offices in the world. Through that encounter, the two discussed Indonesia’s role on the IsDB itself.
“Indonesia offered several suggestions as well as solutions regarding different issues. Our discussion talked about three periods of time: short term (the next 1-3 years), medium term (the next 3-6 years), long term (over the next 6 years),” explained the Minister of Finance.
Sri Mulyani added that the attempt to strengthen IsDB becomes urgent considering the dynamic world challenge and the uncertain future. She believed, multilateral bank development such as IsDB has a key role to support reformation as well as resource mobilization to face it.
“What a full of wisdom discussion. Hopefully this brings goodness both for Indonesia and the world,” she concluded.
