Heaptalk, Jakarta — After the coastal dance, West Kutai Tourism Regency held an inland dance competition at Sendawar Cultural Park, Barong Tongkok District (10/26).
Head of the West Kutai Tourism Department Yuyun Diah Setiorini explained that this competition was part of the celebration of the 24th anniversary of West Kutai. She said, “This competition is a manifestation of our gratitude for the 24th anniversary of West Kutai, especially in the fields of arts, culture, and tourism.”
Apart from dance, the 24th anniversary of West Kutai was filled with various competitions to highlight and promote the arts and culture of the regency. “The competitions that are held (in celebration of West Kutai anniversary) are not only limited to folk dances but also music, folk songs, fashion shows, culinary delights, and typical snacks of West Kutai. This series of competitions is open to the public and is not limited by age, group, community, or school, and includes all groups of art and culture lovers,” Yuyun explained.

Yuyun further advised the younger generation and the community of arts and culture lovers to jointly promote, love, and be proud of the arts and culture in the West Kutai Regency.
Inland dance is a native dance from Kalimantan that developed in inland communities. In this competition, the inland dance is recreated in such a way by the choreographer with musical accompaniment and props that match the title of the dance. This competition is one way to preserve cultural arts, especially folk dances, carried out by the West Kutai Tourism Department. (Translated by Sinta)
