Indonesia plans to open direct flights to Azerbaijan to reinforce this bilateral relationship with several airline companies (Qatar Airways, Turkish, and Emirates Airlines).
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Indonesia, Jalal Mirzyev, said that his country attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Indonesia by strengthening relations in all industries during the commemoration of the 105th Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held in the Westin Hotel, Jakarta. “Built on a solid foundation, Azerbaijan-Indonesia relations are still distinguished by their high dynamics of development and exemplarity. Last year, we celebrated 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Indonesia. On this very occasion, an exchange of congratulatory letters respectively among our Presidents and foreign ministers took place. İn 2022, the trade turnover between our friendly countries was around US$1 billion, which vividly demonstrates our bilateral economic cooperation level,” Mirzyev said in his speech.
As is known, in the field of trade, the value of bilateral trade between Indonesia and Azerbaijan is in second place among the Commonwealth of Independent Countries (CIS) countries, located in the Central and North Asia region after Russia.
According to the Ambassador, Indonesia plans to open direct flights to Azerbaijan to reinforce this bilateral relationship. He claimed his party examines direct flight offers with several airline companies, such as Qatar Airways, Turkish, and Emirates Airlines. Apart from unlocking flight access, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador aims to cooperate in boosting the Halal Tourism sector.
In line with the Ambassador, Indonesia‘s Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, claimed that Indonesia and Azerbaijan have good relations. Through several strategic collaborations that will be carried out, Budi hopes that this bilateral relationship can continue to be improved.
“We know that these two countries have their potential. I see that we have grown well. For this reason, we want trade between Azerbaijan and Indonesia to continue strengthening through numerous actions,” concluded Budi.
