According to new Twitter CEO, Yoccarino, X is the future state of unlimited interactivity in creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Twitter’s owner, Elon Musk, plans to change this social media platform’s iconic bird logo with an ‘X.’ According to him, Twitter’s rebranding is a move to bring the social media platform he acquired in October 2022 to a new identity to attract advertisers’ growth in this app after recently showing a decline.
“Soon, we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds. If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we will make it go live worldwide tomorrow,” said Musk.
Musk also reportedly sent an email last night to Twitter employees regarding information on the company’s rebranding to the X logo. However, the owner did not mention the new logo’s appearance further.
Since he acquired the company last year, Musk has already performed significant transformations to Twitter, one of which is changing its name to X Corp in fillings as part of his plans to create multiple apps under the X’s brand. X Corp may also be a future parent company for Musk’s other businesses, including Neuralink, SpaceX, Tesla, and The Boring Company.
In response to this rebranding move, the new CEO of Twitter, Linda Yaccarino, voiced, “This move is a scarce thing in life or business. You get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one big impression and will change the way we communicate,”
She added that the company intends to integrate more audio, video, and payments features, expecting to attract advertisers and partner with broadcasters or payments groups. Also, Yaccarino revealed to the board of the Mobile Marketing Association that the company planned to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) by working closely with Musk’s new AI company, xAI. Through the effort, Twitter data could be used to train the AI models that xAI develops.
“X is the future state of unlimited interactivity in creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we are just beginning to imagine,” added Yaccarino.
During its presence, Twitter’s current logo, known as Larry the Bird, has been the platform emblem since its establishment in 2006, with the contemporary design in use since 2012. In April, the logo was briefly replaced with a picture of a Shibu Inu dog, which boosted the market value of Dogecoin, the popular meme coin, by US$4 billion.
Previously, the company briefly came under widespread criticism from users and marketing professionals when Musk announced that Twitter was limiting the number of daily tweets that could be read. Following the new rebranding effort, this logo transformation may impact the user’s perspective. Twitter’s longtime loyal user base will be at odds with significant changes to the platform that has been using for a long time.
