“After ‘Selfie Expert’ became the strongest identity for Oppo from 2016 to 2019, the Company has put its focus on the quality of its entire cameras’ tools. Through Reno’s series, Oppo strives to provide excellent features that is developed continuously based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically portrait. As time goes on, the smartphone’s ability will become users’ preference, and be a favorite smartphone’s feature in 2022,” stated Aryo Meidianto, Public Relation Manager of Oppo Indonesia.

Today, through Reno series, Oppo try to demonstrate its excellence on the ‘portrait’ feature. In detail, Oppo confirmed that the advanced improvement of the portrait capability came from the combination of three critical elements, including the graphic processor unit, camera sensor, and the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) through software.

AI-based graphic management processor stands as the essence of the ability’s upgrade. Known as Neural Processing Unit (NPU), the processor embedded in Oppo’s devices will employ AI in the image management process; thus, the technology will generate a better result. Oppo has successfully developed MariSilicon X, its own processor that was launched last year.

In addition, Oppo perceives that the capability of the camera sensor also holds a significant role in producing high-quality portraits. For this reason, the Company has built collaboration with Sony as the producer of the best camera sensor in the market to provide its upcoming device with advanced internal tools. The cooperation will enable Oppo’s upcoming product to have Sony IMX 709 inside, a technology that has been developed from the synergy between Oppo and Sony.

According to Oppo, the Company and Sony have developed the product for three years. By inviting 300 engineers, the collaboration has produced 87 patents with the investment value to reach USD1.5 million.

The sensor is claimed to have a light sensitivity enhancement of 60% and noise reduction of 35% compared to Oppo Reno 6. For this specification, IMX 709 is viewed to have a high sensitivity in low light conditions. Moreover, Oppo also is set to install the latest RGBW in its new series to generate a natural and clear image from the portrait feature.

Furthermore, the appearance of software in Oppo’s product always be updated continuously to produce advanced Artificial Intelligence. The system is integrated into ColorOS allow the phone to recognize every situation while capturing portrait photos. (WLN)
