Heaptalk, Jakarta — SpaceX’s subsidiary Starlink announced the release of a portable version of their satellite terminal, Starlink Mini Dish.

“The portable version of the satellite terminal is named Starlink Mini Dish,” the CEO of Starlink, Elon Musk, said.

The specifications of this portable satellite include a length of approximately 430 mm, a height of 334 mm, and a width of 79 mm, with a weight of around 1.10 kg. When equipped with a kickstand and a 15-meter cable, the weight increases to about 1.53 jf. These dimensions are similar to a laptop’s, simplifying the product to be carried in a backpack.

“In comparison, the standard Starlink dish measures approximately 513 mm in length, 303 mm in height, and weighs 2.9 kg (without cable) or 3.6 kg (with cable),” Starlink explained.

In addition to being smaller, Starlink Mini is also more practical because it is integrated with a Wi-Fi router. This component essentially acts as a “bridge” to allow the internet signal to be received by smartphones, laptops, and other devices. In the standard its device, the Wi-Fi router is not integrated and is available separately, requiring additional space to place the router.

In terms of power, this mini antenna is furnished with USB-Power Delivery technology with power support of up to 100 watts. However, the device only operates around 25-4 watts. This technology allows users to use a power bank or smartphone charger to power the Starlink Mini. Other supporting specifications of this new product include a satellite reception field of view of up to 110 degrees, resistance to extreme temperatures from -30 degrees Celsius to 50°C, and a water and dust resistance rating of IP67.

The device also supports Wi-Fi 5 technology, Dual Band 3×3 MU-MIMO, and LED indicator lights and can simultaneously accommodate up to 128 devices within a radius of up to 112 square meters. As for availability, the Starlink Mini Dish is currently available for purchase in the United States market for US$599, approximately Rp9.6 million.
