Heaptalk, Jakarta — Bank Mandiri and KAI Group have established a partnership to expand the digital ecosystem in transportation services. Representatives from both entities signed a cooperation agreement at Plaza Mandiri, South Jakarta (10/01).

KAI Group will implement near-field communication (NFC) technology for KRL and LRT ticket payments through the Livin’ by Mandiri feature. This feature is claimed to allow passengers to make payments more easily and swiftly as it is directly integrated with Bank Mandiri’s services.

Soon, Bank Mandiri will also develop QRIS-based payment services at KAI stations in addition to the NFC payment. This service will enable passengers to pay at station counters and vending machines swiftly through the Livin’ by Mandiri super app, enhancing transaction convenience for users.

Applying NFC to boost transaction volumes

Riduan, Director of Corporate Banking at Bank Mandiri, stated that this partnership is a strategic step supporting Bank Mandiri’s vision of developing a digital ecosystem in Indonesia. “Through this collaboration, we hope to provide the best financial and banking services, as well as support the KAI Group in embodying its vision to become the Best Transportation Ecosystem Solution in Indonesia,” said Riduan.

Furthermore, this partnership is expected to boost transaction volumes in the transportation sector. The more integrated digital payment system through Livin’ by Mandiri and QRIS across the KAI network will attract more transportation users to switch to digital payment methods.

Bank Mandiri also expands its balance top-up services for the multi-trip card through the Livin’ by Mandiri app. Riduan explained that this service will make it more convenient for passengers to top up their cards. Beyond retail transactions, this partnership also includes other financial services, such as payroll services for KAI Group employees and multiple benefits under the Employee Package Benefit, including personal financial management and loan facilities with competitive interest rates.

Didiek Hartantyo, President Director of KAI, welcomed this partnership as an important step in improving KAI’s operational efficiency. “This collaboration is a form of synergy between state-owned enterprises in building a strong and integrated digital ecosystem in Indonesia. With the digital banking innovations and services offered, Bank Mandiri and KAI Group are ready to bring the transportation sector into a new era that is more modern, efficient, and sustainable,” concluded Didiek.
