Heaptalk, Jakarta — PLN, through its subholding PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP), launched the Nusantara InnoVision Center (NIC) at the strategic PLN NP office in Jakarta (07/26).

The NIC will be the central hub for real-time monitoring and control of power generation system operations. PLN is optimistic about supporting the company’s operations through this digital technology-based innovation, particularly in facilitating the energy transition.

The energy transition motivates the company to incorporate large-scale intermittent new renewable energy (NRE). This process requires transforming previously manual power plants into digital ones, transitioning from slow-response operations to fast-response ones. Additionally, it involves converting manual operational monitoring into digital monitoring.

Darmawan Prasodjo, President Director of PLN, stated that the launch of the Nusantara InnoVision Center program exhibits the company’s commitment to becoming a world-class modern energy company, continuing digital transformation within the Group. “As the mandate holder for national electricity provision, the PLN Group is determined to continue providing the best contributions in supporting national energy security and supplying reliable and sustainable electricity to all Indonesian communities. With the support of NIC, PLN NP can become more agile in fulfilling this strategic role,” he said.

Managing 621 power plant units

Furthermore, Darmawan hopes that the NIC program can also contribute to the utilization of new renewable energy in the country, considering that more green electricity with intermittent characteristics will enter PLN’s power system in the future.

Echoing Darmawan’s sentiments, Ruly Firmansyah, President Director of PLN NP, explained that the Nusantara InnoVision Center will become PLN NP’s big data center, functioning as the integrator and coordinator of the company’s operational activities. The NIC is expected to be a verified source of information necessary for problem analysis and decision-making.

Previously, the company’s operational information was fragmented, with monitoring conducted separately. With 621 power plant units managed, it was difficult for management to make strategic decisions. Ruly said, “Now, with the presence of NIC, everything is consolidated; all information can be viewed here. We in the PLN NP management ranks will be able to get a comprehensive picture for quick and accurate decision-making.”

The NIC dashboard is the central hub for information and control of NRE power plant operations, power plant performance and operations, corporate performance, and project achievements. All information and operational controls are carried out in real time. “One more thing that makes us proud with the launch of this NIC is that we can support the moonshot transformation in the PLN Group to become a top 500 global company and the number one customer choice for energy solutions,” concluded Ruly.
