Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Upstream Oil and Gas Industry, in collaboration with the Nusantara Capital Authority, Eni Indonesia, and the Sukomulyo Village Government, initiated the construction of the Puspantara Fruit Park in Sukomulyo Village, Sepaku District, Nusantara Capital (IKN) (07/08).

This green space is built on village treasury land, covering an area of approximately 14 hectares. The IKN spatial plan categorizes this land as a food cultivation area. Puspantara is a long-term project that aims to build superior Indonesian fruit production zones.

The construction of the Puspantara Fruit Park follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding previously carried out by SKK Migas Deputy for Business Support Rudi Satwiko and the Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources (LHSDA) of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Myrna A. Safitri on May 27, 2024.

Involving Eni Indonesia and Sukomulyo Village

This synergy program between the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry and the Nusantara Capital Authority began with a reforestation program by Cooperation Contractors (KKKS) Eni Indonesia involving Sukomulyo Village. This activity will be carried out over four years, and the scope of cooperation includes providing green space areas, seedlings, planting, maintenance, and monitoring. Furthermore, this cooperation also includes empowering local farmers and developing supporting facilities and infrastructure for the fruit park.

According to Shinta Damayanti, Deputy Head of SKK Migas, this activity is part of the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry’s commitment to plant 1.6 million trees by 2024, with a CO2 reduction of 300,000 tons. “Since the launch of the Indonesia Oil and Gas (IOG) 4.0 Strategic Plan in 2020, 8.5 million trees have been planted thus far,” said Shinta.

Menawhile, Myrna Safitri, Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources of the Nusantara Capital Authority, conveyed, “The hope is that Puspantara Fruit Park can become a fruit plant center in Nusantara Capital to support food security, realizing a Sustainable Forest City in IKN and can provide economic impact to the local community. Additionally, it will serve as a beneficial green space for residents to relax and briefly escape the hustle and bustle of life.”
