Toyota’s Action on Disaster Respons in Collaboration with Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) 2021

Heaptalk, Jakarta – In early 2021, Indonesia has encountered a series of disasters in various areas, including earthquakes in West Sulawesi, flash floods in West Borneo and Central java, landslides that befell West Java residents, as well as a flood that beset Karawang’s residents. The situation was more challenging amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the form of the Corporate’s participation, on Tuesday, March, 2nd 2021, PT. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) and its supply chain companies have donated Rp1.25 billion to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). This action is a manifestation of the Corporate’s support to the Government for natural disaster management in Indonesia. The action also proves the Corporate’s concern in humanities through corporate social responsibility activities.

Previously, in January PT. Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) and its local stakeholders as well as the dealers have distributed the direct relief gradually to deliver the Company’s contribution in the recovery of the area affected by disasters, namely in Majene, Mamuju, and West Borneo. The relief distributed were ready-made necessity goods, medical support, and sanitation.

The donation delivered to PMI will be managed to supply the necessity of people affected by natural disasters. The aid was handed by Warih Andang Tjahjono as the President Director of TMMIN to Jusuf Kalla as the head of Indonesian Red Cross virtually in their respective locations by following the health protocol standard considering the pandemic situation.

“We express our deep condolence to people that become a victim of natural disaster in various places in Indonesia. We profoundly appreciate and be grateful to the Central Government, Local Government, and all parties that work really hard to assist disaster management efforts in various regions under the current pandemic situation. We expected the donation channeled through PMI, will bring benefit to the area affected by the disaster.” Said Warih Andang Tjahjono, President Director of TMMIN on Thursday (3/2/2021).

At once, TMMIN also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PMI concerning “The Support of the Human Capital Capacity and Asset Management Enhancement”. The scope of the MoU contains Training for Trainer Program concerning Work Culture, Kaizen, and Plan Do Check Action (PDCA) as well as Asset Management Development, including Integrated Databased Assets and Asset System Modification.

Last week (2/25/2021), TMMIN have donated relief to the victim of flood in Karawang District through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and also directly to the Karawang residents with a total relief of Rp300 million, consist of 3.1 tons of rice grain, 700 sets of baby necessities, 1,000 liters of disinfectant liquid, 20,300 mask, and cleaning tools.

“We hope a series of TMMIN donations in collaboration with PMI will deliver a real contribution to disaster recovery in Indonesia. We strive to provides full support to PMI and the Government in tackling natural disasters at the beginning of 2021,” stated Bob Azam, the Director of Corporate Affairs.
